Friday evening my dad and I went to Sears to pickup the oven and freezer that I had ordered. Then we stopped by Menards for some drywall, plywood and countertops.

I managed to drop the 5/8" plywood on my right foot. ow. We got everything home and unloaded, then did some stuff. Then it was to sleep for the early morning departure.

Early start on the road to IKEA. Tolls with a trailer are expensive. Got there shortly after 9am and treked right up to get a few glasses and order the kitchen. Turns out the door style we wanted wasn't a stocked color, so the doors and faceplates will be at the store in about 2-3 weeks or so. When the person that was helping me order them was almost done, he was informed that they don't do split orders, they order everything so it is in then you pick it all up at one. He was almost done splitting up the cases in a pick up today order and the doors and panels in a distribution order so I was still able to bring back all but 2 of the upper cabinets on this trip. Those two will come in with the doors. went down to the pickup desk and got the 4 flat bed carts of stuff and wheeled it out to the van. Turns out everything fit in the van with room to spare (volume, not weight). We didn't need the trailer although it was good to have along just in case, even though it more than doubled the tolls, $20 there and back.

We unloaded all of the boxes into the sun room then [livejournal.com profile] alyska came over for a bit to do color choices. Then we went to dinner and stopped at Menards again for some more plywood and drywall scraps. We then stopped at [livejournal.com profile] creeksideway to watch the 15 minute IKEA instructional DVD to get prepped for the cabinet work. We also loaded up some tools and the futon in the van so [livejournal.com profile] tour_spot would have a better place to sleep than the floor, which I found out last night isn't all that comfy with no mattress or pillow.

Headed over early and marked out counter height lines with a laser-level so we could then reference up and down for the cabinet rails without worrying about the ceiling or floors. Put together most of the cabinet cases so we could get accurate measurements for things. [livejournal.com profile] tour_spot arrived at about 10:30pm. We got the backing on the walls between the upper and lower cabinets installed. Then I headed back to [livejournal.com profile] creeksideway for the night morning.

Ran flexible gas line for the cook-top, purchased new sink and fittings. We fitted the lower cabinets, with most of them anchored to the wall waiting for final leveling and attachment. [livejournal.com profile] alyska came over and had some fun with the Super Sawzall and the broken bush out front. [livejournal.com profile] tour_spot did some vinyl repair around the cabinet bases and made the cutouts for the sink base to fit around the pipes. Glass Nickel pizza was had for dinner then we moved in the dishwasher and oven so they could be spaced correctly and wired/plumbed in. The dishwasher also was needed to properly space the end cabinet on that wall, which is where the upper cabinets on that wall will be based off of for alignment.

Images on the weekend progress were added in the gallery. Newest crop start on the second page.

Tonight is a furniture delivery between 4 and 8pm, and most likely some base cabinet anchoring and leveling, with a possible counter fitting for the cook-top in there as well.
